Historic Buildings Downtown

Greeley has many old beautiful buildings.
Since 1870 when Greeley was founded many beautiful buildings have been built. Some are on the National Registry of Historic Buildings.

Greeley built a new high school in 1895. In 1903 a new elementary school was built next door.
The high school was used each year until 1912 when Greeley Central was built. The school district stopped using the buildings in 1948 when they sold them to the city. Today it is used for offices. You may see pictures of the building today by clicking here.

The Masonic Lodge was built in 1927.
The Masons were one of the first clubs in Greeley. It began in November 1870. It became a part of all of the Masonic Lodges in September 1871. J.M.B. Petriken was one of the members while it was being built. You may see pictures of the lodge by clicking here.

The Old First Congregational Church was built in 1906.
There was a older church building here that they used. They built the new church around the old building that had been built in 1883. The pipe organ was added in 1907 by Mrs. Benjamin Eaton. The organ moved when the church did in 1955. (First Congregational church is getting a new pipe organ in 2011.) A second story was added in 1936. The First Congregational Church moved to their new building on 16th Street in 1955. Other people have used the building for their churches. Today it is used by St. Patrick Presbyterian Church. You may see pictures of the church by clicking here.
